Rep Power: 0 ![]() | I was just wondering if anyone knew about how tanning affects your hair? I have thick butt length, blonde, curly hair and I have been tanning for 2 months. About 3 weeks into it my hair started to fall out. Not like in clumps, just more hair loss than usual. I only loose a countable amount of hair a day. Saturday my deal ran out, so I am not renewing because I figured that is what is causing my hair to fall out. And a couple people told me they have heard that that happens. I guess if it's true, I will sacrafice tanning for my "crown of glory". Does anyone know if this is true? |

Rep Power: 12 ![]() | Does anyone else know anything about this? I have found that in recent months I have been losing a lot more hair too. Not cracking off but falling out. I figured it was stress but.......maybe not? I would love to hear from more people on this. Stacey |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Thanks for your input, but thats the thing, my hair is soo healthy, I do not dye it, I don't even own a blow dryer or curling iron. I have good genes so I take of it.And in fact it looks more healthy than normal. No breaking no drying, just hair coming out in the shower and through out the day. Which is normal, but not normal if you never lost hair before. (not much anyway) I also heard it had something to do with the radiation, like if you got treatment for cancer and your hair falls then. |

Rep Power: 12 ![]() | UV rays and radiation waves?...... they are both very high frequency/short wavelength waves but I never thought to compare the two. All I know is that my hair is dark brown with blonde highlights and tanning has really lightened up my hair. I am going to have to go back next week to have her "tone down" the super-bleached bits and re-highlight back to a normal shade of blonde the rest......... I shower like twice a day but I'm sure to condition every time. I've never had problems with hair falling out. Just with color changes. |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | I used to have long hair and when it was mid back length, my hair fell out as you had stated. Now that it is short I don't notice it as much. When I was in medical assisting class, I asked about this and was told that it was new hair growth. (new hair growth will make the old fall out-makes sense to me, somewhat). Don't get discouraged about the hair falling out because of tanning-if that were the cause it would also fall out when tanning out in the actual sun. Also- gray hair is not caused by stress, it is caused by blocked hair follicles. (or at least that is what I was told by a high school student-she was told this by her science teacher). chooselove |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | I agree, I do think that it affects people differently, so perhaps it is just affecting me in a negative way, I dont know, I just know that I will stop for a while, and see if it makes a difference. I sure hope it is that. Otherwise, I got a different problem, ah? lol, |

Rep Power: 13 ![]() | Hair can dry out.. become frazzeld by heat. Try using the UV hair care products from John Abante. They are made for tanners. Gray hair is a natural thing.. some people can begin to turn gray in their early 20s.. it is not from tanning..indoors or out.. |

Rep Power: 12 ![]() | I've always had fine, thin hair and do well using Nioxin products. Hair loss can occur due to stress and hormonal changes (during and after pregnancy, birth control pills, and natural aging). Any changes in your life lately? |
