How to Move a tanning bed?

I need to move a tanning bed about 100 miles in a pick up........ How would you go about moving it as far as protecting the bulbs? Thanks.

Take the bulbs out and wrap in bubble wrap.

Re: How to Move a tanning bed?

Hire someone! Seriously, you could find a mover company or a bed distributor who could relocate it for you. Either way, you should take the lamps out and box/wrap them up. It might be easier to rent a moving truck to transport it. Unless it's a small bed, you probably couldn't haul it in one trip with a pick up truck.

Re: How to Move a tanning bed?

That's good. You could also leave them in. Remove the canopy from it's mounts, remove the mounts/hinges. Pad the bench under a couple of 2 x 4's, pad the 2 x 4's, and then lay the canopy on top. Now, carefully strap it all together. Then secure the entire load in the truck bed. With or without lamps installed.

P.S. No off-roading.

Re: How to Move a tanning bed?

I agree with Neon but I want to stress the most critical step in this move. Make sure to remove canopy from bench. You want to avoid damaging the hinge assembly. You did not specify what type of bed you have but be carefull handling the bed by the end caps. Most beds are not designed to be handled in this manner. Call me if you if you have other questions or want it moved by us. ttyl, John 979-203-3335

Re: How to Move a tanning bed?

Definetly remove the canopy from the bench. I assumed that was a given. You can probably leave the lamps in, just check the connections/alignment of the lamps when you set it up. I prefer to remove the lamps, just to be safe. Lamps are too expensive.

Re: How to Move a tanning bed?

I did it the same way that neon stated and drove almost 350 miles without a problem one ,but I put those matress pads (the ones that look like egg crates in between the base & canopy

Re: How to Move a tanning bed?

We moved ours by ourselves not a problem. we did not remove the lamps.
We took to bed top and bottom apart and from the pedastels. Moved easy, just heavy as crap. and you can lay the bottom on the top acrylics like shells up, just put a thick blanket in between the two to prevent scratches
